The botnet business is very competitive as everyone wants to infect your computer and make money at your expense.  Botnets battling isn't really a new thing, but it's growing.  Basically what's going on is the people who infect your computer are then getting pushed out of it by others who want to infect your computer.  I guess there truly is no honor among thieves.

I found this really neat article about how hackers make good money at installing spyware on your computer, and how they get in to your computer to do it.  I always try to remember to tell people about patching Microsoft products, but sometimes I just forget with everything I do.  Here's a good reminder on why to download the latest updates and patch your computer.

Free Nationwide Wireless? PDF Print E-mail

I came across this article and thought it was very interesting.  I'm not sure if it will pan out, but it will certainly take many years to get even close to their target of free wireless for 95% of the whole U.S.!

I wondered if it would be possible, and if the other local companies would allow it.  It will definitely hurt their business and they have big pockets to keep something like this in litigation for a while.

I see that the key is that they will offer slow high-speed free wireless.  If you want fast high-speed wireless you will surely have to pay.

Cable Modem is about 3000 Mbps and DSL is about 1500 Mbps.  Dial-up is .056 Mbps.

They are offering 384 Mbps for free, which is far better than dial-up.

It's easy to have a miscommunication via e-mail.  We rely on a lot of body language, tone, and quick responses to keep us from getting the wrong impression or idea.  E-mail takes all that away and countless times I have had to give a phone call or visit to make sure an innocent message didn't get misconstrued.  Here's an article addressing just that.
